Explorer Program
Explorers Post 226
The Morganton Department of Public Safety Explorer Program is an official department program sponsored by the Morganton Public Safety Department and is assigned, organizationally, to the Community Services Division.
The Explorer Program is designed to develop career awareness by exposing young people to the fundamentals of law enforcement and fire services while improving public relations within the community. This program is open to young people who have completed the 6th grade through 20 years of age.
Our goals are to further the individual member’s overall education, encourage participation in rewarding and productive service activities, to prepare members for future roles as productive citizens and community members, to help each member become aware of the role of police and fire services, specifically that of the City of Morganton.
This program also promotes positive character development through personal growth, teamwork, and respect for the rule of law, good citizenship with patriotism. Explorer members participate in a variety of special events to include: The Historic Morganton Festival, Parades, community projects, and promotional information events.
